The Lamy AL-Star features lightweight, yet sturdy, aluminum construction and keeps a similar shape to the classic Lamy Safari. The transparent molded grip gives you a view to the inner workings of the feed and the ink as it flows to the nib. Each year Lamy releases the AL-Star in special edition colors, and I’ve managed to land a few remaining stock of the “Azure” (a pale blue silver), Cosmic (a muted copper), and Whitesilver (a pearlescent, well, white silver).
