Thursday Drops: Kaweco Collection Honey Sport Has Arrived; Roterfaden Taschenbegleiters, and Diamine!

It’s finally here! The Kaweco Collection “Honey” Sport fountain pen has landed. I’ve been keeping this one under the hat since I first saw it at NYNow back in January, and I certainly hope this one sticks around for a while as it’s sure to be a favorite. We also have a restock of many different Kaweco products, including clips, foldable mini converters, AL Sport and Classic Sport Piston Fillers, and more.

As I mentioned Tuesday, most sizes and colors of Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter covers are back in stock, including the new Ltd_033 Black + Antique Rose color combination. We also have new Blackwing releases (and a restock of erasers and sharpeners), plus new ballpoints from Anterique and Lamy!

1. Kaweco Collection “Honey” Sport. This might be my favorite of the Kaweco Collection releases, even over the excellent “Olive”. I love yellow pens. Some might call this one a “Mustard” yellow, but I guess that depends on the mustard….

2. Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter Covers. As noted in Tuesday’s “New Releases” post, we have a new round of Roterfaden covers available for sale in the shop. Several already have gone off to good homes, including one of the new Black Leather / “Antique Rose” suede combinations pictured above.

3. Blackwing Volumes No. 11: The Bill Russell Pencil and Notebook. The latest Blackwing Volumes has arrived, and it’s a tribute to Bill Russell and features a gorgeous black and green matte color combo. There’s also a limited edition A5 Blackwing Slate notebook, which includes a Volume 11 pencil in the pencil holder.

4. Diamine 160th Anniversary Fountain Pen Inks. All six colors of Diamine’s latest Anniversary series are back in stock. Most standard Diamine colors are also back in stock.

5. Kaweco AL Sport Piston Fountain Pens. The heftier, metal version of Kaweco’s recent piston filler, featuring an integrated clip. You can read our write up on this pen here, and watch our YouTube video showing how it works.

6. Kaweco Classic Sport Piston Fountain Pens. Less expensive than the AL-Sport version, the Classic Piston fountain pen gives you the piston functionality in the standard plastic Sport body, without the clip (which you can add on later.)

7. Kaweco Foldable Mini-Converters. Yes, they are small enough to fit the Kaweco Sport, and pretty much any other pocket pen! Read more about how they work here.

8. New Anterique Bicolor Ballpoint Pens. While you can always combine the interchangeable parts from any pen in the Anterique lineup to make the color combination you desire, I’ve managed to source these bicolor versions in many different color combinations.

9. Lamy Logo Ballpoint Pens. Like most other Lamy ballpoints, the Logo uses the excellent M16 refill. Featuring a textured grip section and a clip integrated into the knock, the Logo makes for a solid everyday writer at a low price point.

10. Lamy Xevo Ballpoint Pens. Want a great $10 everyday writer that looks professional and uses the Lamy M16 refill? The Xevo features a contoured triangular shape and a twist-action knock.

Thursday Drops: New Notsu Notecard Sets, Notecard Holders, and More Desk Accessories!

Notsu Notecards Sets are back, including several new designs! In addition to more of the popular “Centre Rise” vertical to-do index cards, we have the “Centre” Set that features a horizontal card layout, and which is compatible with both “To Do” and “Weekly Planner” cards sold separately in packs of 50. Nakabayashi paper has been fully restocked in most formats, and of course we have the Levenger writing pads that we reviewed yesterday. Happy shopping!

The new Hightide Bicolor Sandglasses feature 30-minute and a new 10-minute interval.

1. Notsu “Centre” Notecard Set. Notsu’s ink friendly notecards/index cards were a big hit when we brought them in last month. These vertical “To Do” notecards are scored so that you can fold them for easy carry in a wallet or shirt pocket, plus the box transforms into a magnetic stand for your desk. (I have some pictures of how it works here.)

2. Notsu “Centre Rise” Notecard Set. The popular Notsu “Centre Rise” is back in stock in black, with only limited quantities available at this time but more on the way. If the magnetic stand is not important to you, a hard box of the vertical “To Do” cards is separately available.

3. Notsu Notecard Holder. Looking to streamline your workflow and carry just a few notecards plus a pen? This vegan leather notecard holder features a magnetic clip and a pen loop, plus a back pocket to hold notecards and business cards.

Thursday Drops: Jetstream Light Touch Pens, New Washi Tape Restock, and a Hightide/Penco Arrival!

There’s lots of fun stuff to talk about this week, including a long-awaited restock of Hightide Sandglasses, new Jetstream Lite Touch multi pens, and of course some "fun” new washi tapes! We’re also continuing to add new Lamy stock to the store, including the Lamy 2000 in Stainless Steel, and dramatically expand our selection of woodcase pencils and sharpeners.

Most of the snow and ice has been melting in the sun today, so orders have started to ship out and we should be caught up by tonight. We are open in-store today and tomorrow from 1-6pm, and Saturday from 10-6pm, so please come by and check out all of our new stuff!

1. Uni Jetstream Lite Touch 3 Multi Pen. The new arrival that I’m very excited about! As you all know, I’m a multi pen fan, and this one features the recently released Jetstream Lite Touch refills. Check out yesterday’s post for more details.

2. Lamy 2000 Stainless Steel Fountain Pens. In addition to the classic Makrolon version, we can now offer the stainless steel version. Read our review of this fountain pen here.

3. Lamy 2000 “Blackwood” and “Taxus” Ballpoint Pens. These polished wood versions of the Lamy 2000 are extremely underrated in terms of the attention they receive. I think the lighter Taxus might be my favorite, as it’s a wood tone you don’t see that often.

4. Hightide Sandglasses. The shop favorite Hightide Sandglasses are back in stock, in nearly all colors and sizes! These nearly always sell out during the holidays but we will do our best to keep them in stock year-round.

5. Lamy Noto Ballpoints (New Limited Colors). The triangular, super-silent-click Noto Ballpoint is now available in two more special addition colors, in addition to the regular line.

6. Well-Appointed Desk Inky Dreams Washi and Stickers. We’re happy to offer the latest releases from the Well-Appointed Desk shop, including these ink bottle-print washi tape and stickers.

7. “Grown Up” Washi Tape from iLootPaperie. IYKYK. I bought a lot, so hopefully this will be in stock for some time. Both standard and gold foil varieties are available.

8. Tombow 8900 Pencils. The original uncapped green “Dragonfly” pencil in B, HB, and 2B hardnesses, by the dozen or individually.

9. Uni Mitsubishi 2B Variety Packs. These 2B handwriting pencils are sold in packs of four, and in three different color combinations.

10. Mitsubishi 9800EW Recycled Pencils. These are absolutely gorgeous natural wood pencils. Uncapped, HB hardness, available individually or by the dozen.

Thursday Drops: Lots of Lamy, Even More Pencils, and Japanese Paper Galore

It’s been pouring outside this week, which is good because I’ve not really been able to leave the shop, trying to get all of this new inventory entered and listed! As we talked about in Tuesday’s post, we received a large shipment of assorted Japanese papers from Yamamoto Paper, as well as Iroful Paper from Sakae Technical. All of this paper will work well with most fountain pens, and will vary in texture and thickness. We’ve also restocked on most Lamy pens, as well as the more popular colors of the Teranishi Guitar Inks.

Finally, woodcase pencil enthusiasts take note: we are rapidly moving to expand our pencil offerings, from individual pencils to pencils by the dozen to sharpeners. This week’s Thursday Drops post highlights a few of the brands we have added, but more will be hitting the shop every few days!

1. Yamamoto Specialty Paper. We have packs of 50 A4 sheets of the following specialty Japanese papers, selected for distribution by Yamamoto due to scarcity (either current or impending). Many of these papers are extremely small-batch creations or have been discontinued. (We also have standards such as Sanzen Tomoe River Paper and Tomoegawa Tomoe River Paper writing pads.)

2. Iroful Paper by Sakae Technical Paper. This ink-friendly paper was developed specifically for fountain pens, and comes in a wide range of looseleaf formats as well as A5 notebooks. Iroful is known for showcasing ink color.

3. Teranishi Guitar Ink Restock! Favorite colors such as Gentle Green, Antique Black, and Night Time Soda are back. We have plenty of Gentle Green, which is one of my favorites from the line. Read the review here.

4. Lamy Safari Restock, Including All the Standard Colors. Per the photo above, we received a new Lamy display! Included with that was a large shipment of Safaris and AL-Stars in standard colors, as well as lots of ballpoints and rollerballs. Some of them are listed but photos may lag a bit.

5. Lamy 2000 Taxus and Blackwood Ballpoints. These two unfortunately overlooked entries in the Lamy 2000 lineup are stunning. I can’t decide between them. One of each?

6. Mitsubishi 9800EW Recycled Wood Pencils. Made in Japan from wood scraps, you’d never guess these uncapped HB pencils were recycled because they still feature a gorgeous natural finish.

7. Faber-Castell Grip Series Pencils. The Grip 2000 pencils have a distinctive triangular shape and textured grip. We currently have both untipped and eraser-tipped versions, in HB, B, and 2B hardnesses.

8. New Pencil Sharpeners! We have all sorts of new pencil sharpeners in the shop, including the super-portable Iwako Mini Ace sharpeners and Faber-Castell Grip Trio sharpeners.

9. Pilot Kakuno Fountain Pens. One of the best inexpensive pens on the market, featuring the signature smiley-face nib. Don’t miss this week’s YouTube Video, in which the Kakuno features prominently.

10. Exacompta Index Cards. You all tore through the excellent Notsu dot grid cards we introduced a couple of weeks ago, so I thought it would be prudent to bring in more brands! These cards from Exacompta feature Clairefontaine cardstock and come in blank, grid, lined, and grid/multicolor formats.

Thursday Drops: Yamamoto Writing Pads, Traveler's Notebook Restocks, and More!

Our massive paper restock continues, with a large shipment from Yamamoto Paper arriving this morning. First out of the box are the A5 Bank Paper and Tomoegawa Tomoe River 52gsm writing pads. We also have the entire line of Mnemosyne x Kleid spiral notebooks (featuring that tiny 2mm grid!) as well as Lochby and Traveler’s Company restocks. It’s so much new stuff that we’ve had to reorganize the displays in the Brick-and-Mortar shop!

Remember: We have all sorts of pencils and erasers on the shelves, recently arrived, and all items in the “InCoWriMo” section have a special promotion this month with the coupon code “SNAILMAIL” at checkout. Finally, it appears as though several TWSBI colors are being phased out in favor of new releases. If you’ve had your eye on the TWSBI ECO Heat, the TWSBI Diamond AL Mini in Grape, the ECO-T Eggplant Purple, or the ECO-T Jade and Rose Gold, we’re down to the last few units and it doesn’t appear that restocking is a possibility. Once we clear these out it makes room for more!

1. Yamamoto Bank Paper and Tomoegawa Tomoe River A5 Writing Pads. these 100 (Bank Paper) and 200 sheet (Tomoe River) writing pads were favorites when they were in stock, and we finally have more!

2. Mnemosyne x Kleid Spiral Notebooks. The classic Mnemosyne spiral notebook is now available in A4, A5, B5, A6, and B6 sizes with Kleid’s signature 2mm graph paper. Both vertical and landscape/wide layouts are available.

3. Lochby A5 Field Journal Notebooks (68gsm Tomoe River). These slim A5 notebooks fit the standard Lochby Field Journal, and are one of the few remaining options that contain 68gsm Tomoe River paper, the thicker version that I personally prefer because I think it dries faster and doesn’t crinkle as much.

4. Lochby Pocket Notebooks (68gsm Tomoe River). Similar to the A5 Field Journal Notebook, these pocket notebooks come in three different layouts and are the same size as a standard Field Notes notebook. They also fit the Lochby Field Journal Mini Cover, linked below.

5. Lochby Field Journal and Field Journal Mini Notebook Covers. These sturdy waxed canvas covers have proven enduringly popular, and Lochby recently released a “Mini” version of the Field Journal sized to the standard 3.5 x 5.5 pocket notebook. You can read our review of it here.

6. Traveler’s Notebook Starter Kits. We currently have all colors and sizes of TRAVELER’S COMPANY Traveler’s Notebooks in stock. Most refills and accessories are also restocked, including brass products.

7. Clairefontaine Basics Life.unplugged Pocket Notebooks. I’ve been unable to get the two-packs of Clairefontaine pocket notebooks, but these larger 3.5 x 5.5 notebooks contain a whopping 48 sheets/96 pages, which is big for a pocket notebook.

8. Notsu Index Cards. I’ve spent the better part of a year searching for ink friendly index cards with useful layouts, and these Notsu cards are among the best I’ve used to date. The “Centre Rise” Box Set version includes “To Do” cards and dividers that you can use for task management.

9. Ohto Ceramic Rollerball Pens. We now have the larger version of Ohto’s “CR” series rollerball pens, the CR01. If you found the CR02 a bit slim for your taste, give this one a try in some fun camouflage colors. (Don’t worry, the CR02 is coming back at some point!)

10. Ohto C-305 Rollerball Refill. Both the CR01 and CR02 Ohto Rollerballs use this excellent .5mm rollerball refill. I’ve also had good luck getting it to fit Lamy pens by using a spacer at the end.
